Fish Story

Sylvan reports that he, Tom, Cheryl, Cheryl's daughter Lori, and Lori's daughters Katelyn and Kathy were all up at Cross Point this past week. They rented the resort's pontoon boat for the week (something they plan to do next year, too) and over the course of their stay caught about 200 sunnies and 30 walleye. The prize went to Tom for his 23-inch walleye, weighing in at about 7 lbs, which they released back into the lake.

FYI, Sylvan says that the pontoon rental is $385 for a week, and that there are still 2 cabins available at Cross Point.

Al Nephew reports: "Sylvan called to say that when he left the Cross Point resort yesterday [July 21] not one of the renters who had been there this past week reupped for next year same week, which is the week of the Reunion. So he is excited to say that we all should grab cabins before the rush, and he's spreading the word among the Hilbers and their acolytes."

Another Year, Another Reunion!

This post marks the start of planning for the next Hilber Family Reunion, which will be held from July 19-26, 2008, at Lida Greens. Sylvan Hilber is in charge of the reunion, but I'll be helping him with the website and with t-shirts and suchlike. You can see the new t-shirt design above (they'll be available for sale at the beginning of next year), and Sylvan's tentative events schedule is at left. If you have any questions about the reunion, Sylvan's contact information is at bottom right. Otherwise, time to start thinking about your resort reservations for next year, since things fill up fast! Contact information for several resorts near Pelican Rapids is provided at right.

Sylvan also wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the dates for the "off-year" get-together at Lida Greens next month: July 13-20, 2007. No events will be planned, but it's still a great chance to see everybody before the "big" reunion next year. Have a great summer, everybody!
